05.01.2008  Kyiv teams crash Odessa.

BC Kyiv extended their perfect Superleague record to 13 wins having defeated BC Odessa 102:79 in a resumed championship.

Unlike in the teams’ first encounter, when the Ukrainian vice-champions barely managed to escape with a win, Kyiv did not let Odessa’s shooters get hot in this matchup, taking a 29:13 lead at the end of quarter 1.

The visitors tried to apply full-court pressure in the second, but to no avail.

After the intermission Kyiv made sure Odessa had no hopes for a positive result, knocking them out with a series of threes and some tough defense. Odessa scored their first basket of the quarter six minutes into it, making the score 70:35.

The home side relaxed during the final stretch and Odessa managed to cut the lead to 14, but Tomo Mahoric’s time out cooled the visitor’s run down.

Kyiv’s Ryan Stack scored 17 points in the win. Artur Drozdov added 14.

Odessa’s Oleksiy Golyahov had a game-high 19 in the losing effort.

Meanwhile, Kyiv’s farm team also crashed Odessa’s counterparts 102:48.

Andrei Novikov had 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners, topping 6 players in double figures.
