BC Kyiv confidently extended their Superleague winning streak to 16 games, having defeated Khimik Yuzhniy 67:81 on the road.
Kyiv’s point guard Pooh Jeter sparked his team’s early run, which resulted in a 14:6 lead. Viacheslav Kravtsov and Artur Drozdov were overpowering the opponents in the paint, allowing the visitors to finish the quarter 27:8.
Khimik managed to cut the lead to 15 at the end of the 2nd quarter, taking advantage of Kyiv’s poor free throw shooting.
Both visitors’ guards (Jeter and Krstic) and forward Marko Maravic were in foul trouble during the 3rd quarter, getting more careful on defense and allowing the home side to get some easy shots and Kyiv’s cushion was reduced to 10 points prior to the start of the 4th quarter.
Kyiv managed to regroup in the final stretch. Drozdov and hit several big baskets, allowing his team to hold on to the lead. He finished the game with 27 points on 8/12 shooting. Maravic was the only other Kyiv player in double figures with 15 points.
Goran Cakic had team-high 15 for Khimik.
Kyiv’s farm team also defeated Khimik 66:95.
Vladislav Podolian had a double-double: 21 points and 10 boards.
