17.04.2008 Kyiv Start Quarterfinals With Win
BC Kyiv defeated BC Dnipro in their 2008 Playoffs opener to take a 1:0 series lead.
Kyiv started the game with a 7:0 run and only Dnipro’s Artem Shvets drained a trey to stop Kyiv’s onslaught. Ryan Stack and Vadym Matyukevych exchanged baskets to make it 9:5 midway through the 1st quarter. Kyiv responded with a 12:2 run and finished the time-frame up by 10.
Dnipro managed to even up the flow of the game, cutting the lead to 3 after Shvets’ 3 and 1. He drained yet another 3 to tie the game at 27 to end a 16:6 run. This made Kyiv regroup, and they regained their 10-point lead by the end of the 1st half.
The visitors reduced the lead to 6 in the third, but Kyiv once again responded with a 16:2 blow to finish the 3rd quarter up by 20.
Final quarter was now just a formality and Kyiv held on to the win without much stress.
Pooh Jeter scored 16 points for the winners, Dnipro’s Olexandr Panchenko matched his effort, also finishing the game with 16.
