The Ukrainian Superleague vice-champions BC Kyiv left last year’s Bronze medalists Khimik Yuzhne no chances in their 3rd round clash in Kyiv. What promised to be an intriguing contest turned out to be 90:62 blowout for Kyiv.
The home side proved ready for their opponents’ offense early on as Khimik’s pick and rolls turned out to have no effect. A 17:14 Kyiv lead was displayed on the scoreboard at the end of the first frame.
The vice-champions added 12 more points to their advantage in the second quarter behind 8 points from Kenan Bajramovic.
Goran Jeretin picked up the effort to nail 11 in the third stanza, which extended the hosts’ lead to 24 entering the final frame. Both coaches gave their young Ukrainian players a chance to enter the action in the fourth quarter and even then BC Kyiv came out on top – 21:17.
Bajramovic had a game-high 20 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Goran Jeretin added 16 points and 6 assists.
Khimik’s Goran Cakic had a team high 12 points.
“I am very happy with how my team played today both on both ends of the court”, said Sasa Obradovic after the game. “We spent a lot of time preparing for this match, tried to figure out how to play without Tucker. I think the game showed we did a good job. I can even say this was our best game so far. We are on the right track and we should be improving with every game.”
Kyiv’s Farm team was not as successful against Khimik. Vitaliy Cherniy’s squad suffered its first loss of the season - 81:72.
