24.04.2009 Kyiv advance to semis, will face Donetsk
BC Kyiv have defeated BC Pulsar 60:65 in game four of the semifinal series advancing to the semifinals, where they’ll face BC Donetsk on May 3.
Kyiv managed to shake off their loss to Pulsar in game three despite the absence of captain Artur Drozdov, who was experiencing back problems. Pulsar underestimated their opponents without their star players and failed to resist Kyiv’s pressure in the opening period, which resulted in a 31:9 blowout.
Pulsar managed to fix things up only after the 2-minute break, winning the next three quarter, but that was not enough for a win. Poor Kyiv free-throw execution allowed Pulsar to cut the deficit to 15 by half, by nine after three quarter and even by four with just a few minutes to go.
But Manuchar Markoishvili’s clutch steal and a layup propelled his team to a comfortable margin, forcing Pulsar to stop the clock with fouls, but to no avail.
Markoishvili finished the contest with game-high 18 point. Young Denys Lukashov added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
