12.09.2009 Preseason games: BC Kyiv lost to Budivelnyk
BC Kyiv lost their first preseason game to Budivelnyk - 66:80 (20:17, 15:30, 14:15, 17:18).
Kyiv had a good start to the game: perfect execution of set plays gave them a 10:2 lead early on. Budivelnyk adjusted to their opponents’ style and got into a lead of their own only in second quarter when Khalid El-Amin, Serhii Horbenko and Maxym Balashov scored six three-pointers in a row - 48:35.
Good start to the second half allowed Budivelnyk to lead by as many as 20 points midway through the third period. But Kyiv did not want to surrender and cut the gap to just eleven points.
Still, Budivelnyk showed maximum concentration in the final quarter and took matter in their own hands, raced to a 14-point victory at the end.
Maksym Pustozvonov finished the game with 19 points and 2 steals. Viacheslav Kravtsov added 18 points and 9 rebounds. Oleg Saltovets had 10 points and 7 rebounds.
