12.01.2010  Kyiv сrash out of EuroChallenge at Keravnos

Keravnos Strovolou Nicosia will not be advancing to the Last 16 in the EuroChallenge, but they gave the home crowd something to cheer about with their 76-52 demolition of BC Kyiv on Tuesday.

BC Kyiv (2-4) went into the game with the inside track to second place in Group H ahead of KK Zagreb because in their two meetings, they had a superior goal differential.

A victory would have clinched a spot in the next phase of the competition for the Ukrainians but they crashed out because not only did they lose their game, but KK Zagreb defeated Roanne Basket to finish 3-3 and come in second place.

The Cypriots were led by Bryant Smith's 18 points.

Aurimas Kieza added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Ukrainian team was led by Denys Lukashov's 15 points, but ultimately could not overcome the Cypriots' 33-21 rebounding advantage. Lukashov also committed seven of his team's 22 turnovers.

Keravnos took control of the game early and never trailed, outscoring Kyiv 58-22 inside the arc.

Overall, it was a balanced effort from Keravnos which had 10 players in the scoring column.
