31.03.2010 BC Kyiv hardly beat Politekhnika-Halychyna
BC Kyiv hardly grabbed an 79:81 win over Politekhnika-Halychyna to improve at 15-8 record in Ukrainian Superleague.
Denys Lukashov found Viacheslav Kravtsov alone for a dunk to start the scoring. Kyiv kept rolling with Lukashov’s lay-up and running jumper by Maxim Pustozvonov at 2:7.
Politekhnika‘s first basket from the field came on the third minute, when Lamont McIntosh made a three-pointer. Sean Finn backed in for a hook shot and Nick Williams blasted a triple as the hosts threatened to take its first lead. But still Politekhnika didn’t know how to stop Kyiv’s transition offence.
When Artem Shvets downed another fast-break Kyiv’s advantage increased to 8 points – 35:43. A time-out helped the hosts, as Nikola Lepojevic returned to beat the shot clock with a triple and pass to Williams who cut the margin to minimum – 44:45 with more twenty minutes to go.
In the second half BC Kyiv looked much more better then the opponents. But Politekhnika didn’t want to give up. American duet McIntosh-Williams was on fire. Owing to them the hosts stayed in the game till the end.
With the equal numbers on the scoreboard Kyiv had opportunity for the last offence. And team from the capital used their chance. Artem Shvets came up with a lay-up to seal the win for BC Kyiv – 79:81.
